Coring Tees

Coring Tees

We have started to core all the tees with the John Deere Aercore 1500 machine. This machine can solid spike or core, depending on which tine we use. It has a maximum depth of 4 inches. We are coring with 1/2 inch coring tines to the maximum depth.

The tees are first cut and then cored. After some drying time a dragmat is used to spread as much of the sandy soil pulled up around the tee.

Then the remaining thatchy cores are removed or blown away. Then a final dragmat is undertaken to mat in any remaining soil. The tees are then ready to be topdressed, overseeded and divotted, depending on what quality of surface there is.

Unfortunately during this exercise part of the corer snapped off causing me to stop the maintenance. This has now been repaired and as soon as the machine is back together we will continue with the work.
